Mech Tech CCU

Anyone have any experience with them? I did a search on the forum and came up empty.

I went ahead and ordered one in 45acp. I recieved it and am very impressed with the build quality. I ordered it with M16 style carry handle sights. While more than sufficient, I always wanted an Eotech, so I picked up a 512 at Cabelas and I love it.

Went to the local indoor 25 yard range this morning and dialed it in. It is very accurate and has almost zero recoil. The recovery time between shots is incredibly fast. It is a nice short compact size. All shots were touching at 25 yards.

Thanks for the update. I've looked at their products a couple of times but didn't pull the trigger.

Once you have attached a shoulder stock to a pistol, then you can not convert that back to a pistol again, FYI....per ATF.

I got ya covered Bud, I threw the slide and barrel from my pistol in the ocean. It was a jamming pos anyway.

Is the M4 buttstock collapsible?

How are the quad rails? Worth the extra $?

I'm looking at the CCU Glock model.

The buttstock is collapsible and has like 4 positions. Definitely worth the price. It is more solid than the Knoxx on my shotgun. The quad rail is very, very solid. I like it and have no regrets about getting it. The CCU looks a little Space Gunnish without it, and looks pretty sinister with it. It is great for mounting a scope or holographic site. Plus being virtually full length on the top rail allows for a red dot or such and a BUIS setup to be co witnessed with it. I have a cheapo vertical grip on it now, but I am waiting for the new Crimson Trace vertical forgrip with the integral laser and tactical led light to come out. It will probably be big bucks though, I am afraid.

As interesting as this seems, why not just buy say an AR-15 or something riflewise in the caliber you want which would be about the same price as this item + the handgun?

That is a very good point and was asked of me on another forum. I had a Combat commander that is real old and needs to be ported and polished just to function. I have had the gun for over 30 years and it sat in a box stashed away because I totally lost interest in it. The CCU has an incredible smile factor. It is a lot of fun to shoot, and I would rank it waaaaay up at the top for fun. Plus, I got to put that POS colt that jams to good use. Plus, I had over 10,000 rounds of 45 ball ammo that I have had for years when it was like 6 bucks a box and now I have a fun gun with a lot of cheap ammo to play with.

I for one would never advise anyone to purchase one instead of an AR or AK. This thing is small and shoots fast, with literally no recoil. It can be an excellent CQ weapon for around the homestead. I have already put over 500 rounds through it without a failure and I have taken it to work twice this week and gone to the range to shoot at lunch. I have not done that in over 15 years. That should indicate how much fun it is. I will be sad when my ammo is gone.:bawling:

I could not have bought an AR for what I paid for the CCU.

That makes a lot more sense if you are using it on an old handgun.

I think it'd be excellent with a gen I or II Glock.
